The neon lights wrapping the rooftop of the City View Diner are the perfect personification for the atmosphere inside. It is an old-school kind of place with booths along the windowed walls where you really do get a view of the city-downtown Allentown anyway. The food is cheap but the quality is higher than what you would expect for a full meal under $10-sandwiches and sides are a little less. The service is consistent and the atmosphere is comfortable-it gets pretty busy so it's a cut and dry order and check back once or twice kind of restaurant. So if you don't like to mingle too much this is a good place to pop in for lunch or dinner. Like any good diner City View sells pies and other baked goods at the front counter and has advertisement-laden paper placemats on every table. The grease factor is surprisingly low and the food tastes fresh and gets to you warm. Plenty of parking surrounds the building but don't be fooled there are more people inside than there are cars outside it seems. Hooray carpooling!
